NPC Begins Area Demarcation in 23 States

The National Population Commission (NPC) has commenced another phase of Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) in 23 states across the federation as part of the preparations for Nigeria’s next census.

The Acting Chairman of the Commission Alhaji Hassan Bashir told newsmen in Abuja that the exercise is part of the commission’s preparation for the forth coming National Population and Housing Census.

    Alhaji Bashir explained that due to lack of funds, the commission had to carry out the exercise in faces.

   The Chairman said the EAD will be carried out with INEC registration simultaneously in the LGAs.

   The states are Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Borno, Gombe, Abia and Anambra, Ebony, Enugu, Imo, Cross River

Others are Delta, Edo, Akwa lbom, Rivers, Ogun, Ondo, and Osun States.

The remaining five states of Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, Adamawa and Taraba due to special consideration are stepped down till Saturday, March 30, 2019,

He urged Nigerians to support the demarcators and give them free movement within their communities.
