The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins wants President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the release of Leah Sharibu as a New Year gift to the the parents and peace loving Nigerians.
He also want the president to release the leader of Shiite Muslims, Sheik El Zakzaky in compliance with the court order that granted him bail.
Leah Sharibu was abducted by Boko Haram along with other students but was detained by the sect on account of being a christian after releasing other students.
The cleric commended the government for releasing Omoyele Sowere and Colonel Sambo Dasuki and pleaded that all other people held in detention in Defiance to court orders be released.
He said that their release would be a strong indication that government was committed to the rule of law.
Archbishop Adewale Martins appealed Nigerians to live together in peace and to respect the religious belief of one another.
He urged religious leaders to douse tension in the country by preaching peace and harmonious coexistence.
