Members of the Lagos State Assembly have confirmed Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju-Alogba as the Chief Judge of the state.

The confirmation of Justice Alogba followed his nomination by Governor Babajide Sanwoolu.

The letter nominating him was read by the clerk, Mr. Azeez Sanni during plenary.

In the letter, Governor Sanwo-Olu informed the legislators that Justice Alogba’s appointment has been approved by the National Judicial Council and requested his ratification by the House.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Chief Mudashiru Obasa asked the judge to explain why the Executive always defeat the legislature whenever there was any court case between them.

Responding, Justice Alogba explained that it should not be the norm for a particular party to always win in the court, but that it depended on the facts being presented and who is marshalling the case.

Thereafter they unanimously confirmed him as the Chief Judge of the state through a voice vote conducted by the Speaker.

Justice Alogba who has served as Acting Chief Judge of the state since June, succeeded Justice Opeyemi Oke.

Dignitaries at the occasion included the former Speaker of Lagos Assembly, Mr. Jokotola Pelumi, Justice Habib Abiru of the court of Appeal, other eminent judges in the state and magistrates.
