The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, says it will begin digital Biometric collection of all residents of the State in flood prone areas to adequately ensure their safety during heavy rains.

This will also help the State government plan ahead for conducive relief camps in case of emergency.

Director-General of LASEMA, Dr Femi Osanyintolu-Oke, gave the hint while fielding questions from Newsmen at a Road Show on Flood Awareness Campaign/Strengthening of the Local Emergency Management Committee, in Ojudu area of Lagos.

Dr Osanyintolu-Oke stated that the sensitization campaign was necessary to educate Lagos residents on the danger inherent in blocking waterways and drainages across the State.

He noted that the present administration in the State is not taking the prediction of flood by NIMET for granted, hence the need for proactive steps to combat it whenever it occurs in Lagos with assurance that all hands are on deck in the Agency and other sister Agencies.

Dr Osanyintolu-Oke appealed to those living in flood prone areas to avail themselves the opportunity and urged them to clean and protect their environment against flood.

Our Correspondent Yemisi Dada reports that the sensitization campaign was held in Ojodu, Ketu-Ikosi, Ikeja, Mushin and Bariga.

Other Agencies in the sensitization train included the Red Cross, Nigeria Immigration, Neighbourhood Safety Corps, LASTMA, TASKFORCE and the Nigerian Police.
