As the rainy season becomes intense, Lagos residents have been assured of safety of lives in case of immense flooding.
The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, gave the assurance in an interview with our Correspondent Yemisi Dada in Alausa.
Dr Oke-Osanyintolu who noted that most flood are man-made, stressed that Residents dump waste indiscriminately into water ways, a development he noted was the major cause of drainage blockage leading to flood.
He advised those living in flood prone areas to relocate whenever there is heavy rains, stating that the State government relief camps at Iyana Ipaja and Agbowa, have been prepared for such emergency with feeding of those evacuated.
The LASEMA Boss also urged Community leaders and Community Development Association, CDAs, to educate and sensitize their members on the dangers inherent in blocking waterways, with a call on residents to clear drainages in front of their houses to prevent flooding.
It will be recalled that NIMET has predicted heavy rainfall which will be associated with flood for 2019.
