Lagos State Governor Receives UEFA Champions League Trophy

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has received the UEFA Champions League Trophy alongside its Ambassador and former captain of Barcelona FC of Spain, Carles Puyol at the  Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

Puyol, a three-time Champions League winner is in Nigeria on a three-day visit to lead the UEFA Champions League Tour connecting with consumers and football lovers.

Also in the UEFA tour delegation is the legendary former Super Eagles’ Captain and mid-fielder, Austin JayJay Okocha.Governor Ambode, who was represented by the Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr Kweku Tandoh,  who assured the team that security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the success of the tour and  lauded the contribution of Puyol and Okocha to the development of the round leather game in Nigeria and worldwide

The  Governor said the State Government would be glad to receive the trophy back in the nearest future.

In his remarks, the First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and Chairman, Lagos State Football Association,  Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi commended the organisers for bringing the cup to Nigeria again.

Earlier, Mr Jordi Borrut Bel whose organization sponsored the trophy tour  thanked Governor Ambode for warmly receiving the team, and commended him for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the State.
