The muslim community in Lagos State Assembly has suspended Jumat prayer activities until further notice.

This was made known in a statement made available to RadioOne by the League of Imams at the assembly.

According to the League of Imams, the suspension became necessary in order to curtail the spread of Covid-19, which was increasing on daily basis.

The Imams acknowledged that the restriction by the State Government on all social gatherings was a sure and pragmatic way to reduce the spread of the deadly virus in the State.

The League of Imams also used the medium to offer prayers for those who have lost their lives or that of their loved ones in the cause of this virus.

Our correspondent recalled that the Lagos Assembly Mosque in March last year, suspended Jumaat Prayer due to the first wave of Covid-19, but resumed about five months later.
