Lagos Command of NAPTIP Secures Conviction of Fifteen Human Traffickers in One Year.

Mass sensitization and support of stakeholders remain the potent tools to stem the tide of human trafficking in the country.

Lagos Zonal Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Mr. Dan Atokolo stated this during a sensitization walk in Ikeja to commemorate the World day Against Trafficking in Persons with the theme “Calling Government to Action”.

Mr. Atolokolo explained that the walk was meant to create awareness for Lagosians especially parents and youths, in order to check the ignorance of consenting to dehumanizing and exploitative services.

The NAPTIP boss implored government at all levels to confront the push factors such as economic hardship and terrorism that predispose vulnerable Nigerians to human trafficking.


Mr Atolokolo revealed that the Lagos command had secured the conviction of fifteen human traffickers in the last one year, while victims including two females from Cairo and Lebanon have been rehabilitated and reintegrated into the society.

Our Correspondent Akinboye Akintola reports that the sensitization walk which began from Oba Ladejobi Street in Ikeja GRA witnessed the distribution of flyers and posters on the ills of human trafficking through Awolowo road, Simbiat Abiola way, Mobolaji Bank-Anthony way back into the GRA.
