Eight of the twenty-five nominees of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu as members of the state executive council have been screened by the sixteen-man adhoc committee constituted by the Speaker of Lagos Assembly, Chief Mudashiru Obasa.
The nominees were grilled on their core competence, experiences and understanding of governance by members of the committee chaired by the Chief Whip of the House, Mr. Rotimi Abiru.
One of the nominees and immediate past secretary to the state government, Mr. Tunji Bello while answering questions bordering on the environment, blamed the Ambode-administration for setting aside a unique model that worked for previous administrations.
Mr. Bello, a three time cabinet member in Lagos State canvassed the mass purchase of compactors and strengthening of the Ministry of Environment and LAWMA as solutions to the environmental challenges.
Another nominee who is a medical practitioner, Professor Akinola Abayomi, explained that free health was not possible and backed the health insurance scheme of the state, saying that with this the rich would pay for the healthcare of the poor.
Our assembly correspondent Akinboye Akintola reports that one of the nominees and secretary of APC in Lagos state, Dr. Wale Ahmed was asked to take a bow as a former member of the fourth Assembly.
