In a bid to strengthen its structure across the globe, the Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM), has announced appointments of Country Coordinators and other officers.

JIFORM which is a foundation championing regular migration and anti-human trafficking crusade with over 150 seasoned journalists apart from other volunteers spread across the continents, also announced that it is set to unveil a news website for the body.

Not only this, the foundation has also listed legal practitioners to take charge of its legal matters and other migrant related issues.

According to a statement by the President and Executive Director of JIFORM, Ajibola Abayomi, the appointments were imperative in order to reposition the organization for the new phase of its advocacy taking a new turn.

According to the statement, those appointed include Willie Mponda an Editor at The Sun Newspaper, Zimbabwe as JIFORM Coordinator Southern Africa; an American, Megan Janetsky, Coordinator America; and Massinissa Benlakehal an Algerian journalist based in Tunisia, Coordinator Northern Africa.

While General Manager, Radio Nigeria Bronze FM, Benin City, Mrs Bimbo Oyetunde remains Vice President, West Africa; Zambian journalist, Juliet Makwama Secretary General JIFORM and Kunle Adeniyi of Kiss FM Abuja, Assistant General Secretary.

The statement indicates that two top legal practitioners, the Vice Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association, Ikeja Branch Mrs Roselyn Obakpolor, and foremost activist, Mr Wale Ogunade are now JIFORM legal advisers.

Also appointed as Advisers are a US based journalist/migrant counselor, Eric Chinje and Veye Tatah a migration expert based in Germany.

National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, DCI Sunday James was also appointed JIFORM Programme Chief Coordinator, Professor Ikechukwu Anthony Kanu, O.S.A, Director Research and Content, while Mr Rasak Bamidele and Adeola Ekine, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Lagos State Chapter were appointed as Regional Director Publications and Women Coordinator, Nigeria.

Controller News Radio One 103.5FM, Ikoyi – Lagos, Abiola Peters will be serving the foundation as the Organizing Secretary, while the Director Communications, Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abdul-Ralman Balogun, will head the Media Directorate as Chief Adviser.
