INEC Records Over 1,690 Litigation in Three states

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC says it recorded over one thousand six hundred and ninety litigation in the 2019 General Election.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Kwara, Kogi and Nasarawa States Mallam Muhammed Haruna stated this in Lafia during a retreat to Review the 2019 General Election.
Mallam Haruna explained that the commission recorded over eight hundred and ninety pre-election court cases while seven hundred and ninety nine were tribunal cases.
The INEC National Commissioner said the review which is a nationwide exercise is centred on a template from the general preparation to the conduct of 2019 elections with a view to making appropriate recommendations on the way forward for future elections.
Mallam Muhammed Haruna called on politicians to always ensure transparency and fairness in conducting their primary elections to avoid high rate of pre-election litigations.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Nasarawa State, Dr. Uthman Ajidagba described the review of the 2019 General Election as an opportunity for stakeholders in the Electoral process to go back to the drawing board towards strengthening the process.
A communique is expected at end of the review.
