Former Military Governor of Lagos and Imo States, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu is dead

Retired Rear Admiral Ndubusi Kanu, NADECO chieftain and former Governor of Lagos and Imo States is dead.
He reportedly died of COVID-19 complications on Wednesday.
Born in Abia State in 1943, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu joined the Navy and his naval career included positions in Personnel, Logistics and Training.
In July 1975 as a Lieutenant Commander, he was appointed a member of Murtala Muhammed’s ruling Cabinet, the Supreme Military Council and appointed Governor of Imo State in March 1976 during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo.
He was transferred to become Governor of Lagos State in 1977 and left office in July 1978.
After he retirement, Admiral Kanu joined the pro-democracy movement, NADECO and played a leading role in the agitation for the actualization of the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election.
The late Ndubuisi Kanu who is survived by his wife, Gladys and many Children has a recreation park named after him situated within Alausa, Ikeja, the Lagos State capital
