Breaking: INEC declares Sanwo-Olu winner of Lagos Governorship poll

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo- Olu has been declared winner in the state’s gubernatorial election.
The Vice – Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile Ife who was the Returning officer for the Governorship election, Professor Eyitayo Ogunmobodede announced that Mr. Babajide Sanwo- Olu of APC polled 739, 445 votes . While his closest rival, Mr. Jimi Agbaje of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP scored a total number of 206,141 votes, leaving the third place for the Action Democratic Party, ADP candidate, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi with 4, 078 votes.
Professor Ogunmobodede noted that the total number of accredited voters stood at 1006, 074, total number of votes cast was 998,715, the sum of valid votes was 977, 476, rejected votes amounted to 21239.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has congratulated the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship candidate, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his running mate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as well as the 40 House of Assembly candidates of the party for their resounding victory at the polls on Saturday.
In a statement, Governor Ambode said the feat was a reward for the vigorous campaign embarked upon by the APC candidate and his running mate across the length and breadth of the State.
